Smartphones not so long have entered our lives, but during this time it had time to literally capture it. Unfortunately, some possibilities of smart gadgets can be unlocked only in the presence of a speed Internet connection. And mobile operators are in no hurry to increase the stable and high-quality global web coverage, and the prices for traffic can "bite." Therefore, the most reliable to connect your smartphone to the Internet through a personal computer.
Is it possible to distribute the Internet via USB cable
Technologically, smartphones have already caught up with computers and laptops in their performance. The only difference remains the operating system platform, as well as the availability of active Internet connection. Wi-Fi is not always available, and mobile operators cannot guarantee high-quality communication and access to the global network everywhere. But it is necessary to solve issues and problems arising on the mobile device, including such elementary tasks as:
download games, applications or documents;
find the necessary information;
update the operating system and applications for their correct work;
Use the device as a multimedia device: To view movies, photos, presentations.
How to connect to the Internet android smartphone
Android database devices are the most common. They attract their cheap and good performance, and their functionality is developed on all the necessary directions. Creating a local network using a USB cable connection with standard tools also enters the system capabilities. For distribution of Internet traffic, only a gadget, cord and a computer with an active Internet connection are needed.
Connection setting on smartphone

How to distribute the Internet from a laptop to the phone via Wi-Fi?
It does not rarely happen the situation when there is a laptop, or a stationary computer to which the Internet is connected, and you must distribute the Internet to the phone, tablet, or other device. Of course, in this case, it is best to use a Wi-Fi router to which you can connect the Internet and connect the Internet on the phone, computer, etc. But how to do it all without a router, I will tell you in this article.
From a laptop to the Internet, you can pass in several ways. In principle, it does not have to be a laptop. You can use PC, but there are some nuances there. The fact is that in the system units, as a rule, there is no built-in wireless module, which is responsible for the work of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. And in laptops it is. But if you have an ordinary computer, and you want to use it to distribute the Internet to your phones and other devices, then the solution is to buy and install an additional wireless adapter. In the process of writing the article, I will leave links to the necessary instructions that will be useful to you if you have a PC, and not a laptop.
There are at least three ways that can be transferred to the Internet from a laptop to the phone:
Via wi-fi. This is probably the most popular, universal and relatively simple way. On a laptop that is connected to the Internet (via cable, or via USB modem) We launch distribution Wi-Fi network (Windows, or through third-party programs) And connect the phone to this Wi-Fi network. It can be like a phone on Android, iPhone, iPad, another tablet, computer, etc. Of course, all this works without a router. Since there is no Wi-Fi in every smartphone, then there will be no problems with the connection.
Via bluetooth. I do not know how relevant this method is, but you can also. It's easier, of course, distribute the Internet to the phone via Wi-Fi. But different situations are. Sometimes you have to use Bluetooth.
Via USB cable. In this way, you can transfer the Internet from a computer only on Android phone, or tablet. On iOS devices, this solution will not work. On the phone you need to activate the "Developer" menu and enable "USB debugging". After that, connect the phone to a laptop via a USB cable and open the access to the Internet on your computer.
Honestly, through Bluetooth and USB Internet cable for the phone, I have not yet passed. I think I will somehow write about it in a separate article. As for Wi-Fi, everything is easier there. Many times set up the distribution of Wi-Fi from a laptop and connected his phone to this network. I wrote a lot of instructions on this topic. I think you will use this particular decision.
We distribute the Internet from a computer to the phone without a router
With this scheme, you can distribute the Internet for Android and iPhone. As well as on other devices that have the ability to connect to Wi-Fi.
For distribution we will need a laptop that is configured (installed driver) and enabled Wi-Fi. Or stationary computer with an external USB, or an internal PCI adapter. If you have no such, then read the article how to choose a Wi-Fi PC adapter. But if you want to specifically buy a Wi-Fi adapter to distribute the Internet to the phone, it is better to buy a router. Let the cheapest. So much easier and more convenient.
This solution should work without any problems in Windows 10, Windows 8 (8.1) and Windows 7. If you have Vista or XP, then I can not guarantee performance.
It seems like everyone found out. Establish:
1Run the command line. This can be done through the search, or through the starting pen. It needs to be launched on behalf of the administrator (by clicking on it right mouse button) . Or executing the command cmd. In the window to open by pressing the keys Win + R. .
Where "Help-wifi.com" - This is the name Wi-Fi network which will hand out the computer, and "12345678" - Password for connecting to this network. They can be changed and re-execute the command.
Press the Enter.
If you have the same result as I have in the screenshot, then you can continue. The command line does not close.
2We carry out the second command. With this command, we launch Wi-Fi distribution. The laptop will already distribute Wi-Fi to the phone, but so far without access to the Internet. But it should be.
Netsh Wlan Start HostedNetwork
Copy the command and press the Enter.
The inscription will appear that the "posted network is launched." At this stage, the error failed to start the posted network in Windows. Go on the link and see the solution.
3Open access to the phone for your phone (Wi-Fi network to which we will connect it) . To do this, go to "Network Connections". You can press Win + R and execute the NCPA.CPL command.
Right-click on the connection, through which our laptop is connected to the Internet. Select "Properties". After that, go to the "Access" tab, put a tick nearby "Allow other users to use the Internet connection to the Internet." And from the list, select a connection with an asterisk and a number at the end of the title. Approximately like this:
Please note that you can have a high-speed Internet connection. (with the name of the provider, for example) . And not Ethernet, like in my screenshot.
4After these actions, you can already connect the phone to the Wi-Fi network that the laptop distributes and the Internet should already work. But I advise you to stop distributing the team:
Netsh WLAN Stop HostedNetwork
And immediately run the team:
Netsh Wlan Start HostedNetwork
This command (last) You need to enter after each shutdown / restart of the computer.
Connect the phone (iPhone, Android) to Wi-Fi network via laptop
If you have an iPhone or apad, then go to the settings in the "Wi-Fi" section, select Wi-Fi network that distributes a laptop (if you did not change the network name, then this is a network "help-wifi.com") , Enter the password and connect. Everything is very simple.
On the phones that work on android all right. In the settings you need to enable Wi-Fi (if it is turned off) , Select a Wi-Fi network that we run on your computer, enter the password and connect.
In this way, you can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi almost any phone without a router. Using a laptop, or PC.
Useful links on this topic:
So you can very quickly and without any complex settings connect your phone to the Internet without a router. Using only a laptop, or PC.
If you have any questions - leave them in the comments. I always answer and try to help if something has not happened.
No matter how much we wanted, but the Internet took almost a central place in our lives. If you deepen in history, it was originally invented to transmit secret data, then it began to use for communication, and about 20 years ago he actively began to fill out all sorts of information, multimedia and entertainment sites.
Hence the conclusion - the Internet needs us everywhere. Now you have run thought - in order to distribute the Internet to the smartphone just connect to the wireless access point. But what to do if the stationary computer or laptop is busy household, the Wi-Fi wireless access point does not work, and the mobile traffic has long been over. Do not run in the next cafe! - You thought.
We will reveal one likelume: Armed with one USB cable through a PC, you can connect (distribute) the Internet to your smartphone and no matter what operating system it is located. How to do it, how to connect, what methods and how it works, we will analyze in detail today.
Method First - WiredTher
First of all, download the program for Android (Android) called WiredTher.
Connect your Android (Android) to a PC via USB.
Then on the phone, click on the installation of the program.
Immediately after the program is installed on your PC desktop, a new Internet connection will appear with Androids together with all the DHCP settings. Working with the settings is quite simple, and separately select the fact that you can rename the name of the connection with your Android (Android) device. For example, you can call the connection to the AndroidUSB phone, and the Internet connection itself with common access - Internet (during the article, it is such names that will be used in order not to cause confusion).
The next step is to disable the connection with the name of the Internet in the network connections properties. It is necessary to do this in order to activate the AndroidUSB connection.
After that, we go to the AndroidUSB settings and change your IP to 255.255.255.252 (the remaining fields can be left empty). You can also erase the default gateway settings. After this procedure, you must first check the ping state on your Android (Android) device. Read more below on the images:
Let's turn to the phone settings
Make it is quite simple (literally in a few clicks) and, if you clearly follow our instructions. In order to simplify the job even more, we strongly recommend downloading the GScriptLite program in which you will need to work slightly with scripts.
Next, we install the program, we create a new script in it and write there this text:
It is important to know: at the end of the address submitted, except for four eights, you can use any server name.
That's all, you can now use the Internet with a PC via the phone. But before completing the job, you need to check something (check whether the Internet is running correctly):
Phone must be connected to a PC using USB.
Then run the application you downloaded on your Android (Android) device and activate the connection to the Internet.
Now create a new script, after which the Internet will automatically connect to your mobile device for Android (Android).
After the connection is activated, you can fully boil without limiting the worldwide web. In order to deactivate the Internet connection just just restart WiredTher.
Even despite all the simplicity of this procedure, an ordinary user may have problems connecting the Internet through a PC:
The first and part-time is the most common reasons - this PC does not define a computer when connected via USB. In order to solve this rather common problem, it will be enough to re-connect the smartphone. If the problem did not dare, it is better to take another USB and try connecting the phone again.
The second problem may be associated with the program itself. There were often cases when the utility does not support the Android version set by you (Android). The solution is one thing - you need to enter the Internet, find the necessary application there and transfer it to AKB to your phone and then set the utility.
Second Method - USBTUNnel
To start on your computer, go to the Internet connection, then click the Advanced tab. You will open a new dialog box where you will need to allow other users to use the Internet connection to this computer.
It is important to know: this method of distribution of the Internet on the phone wired through is more complex and long, since it will require ROOT access rights to work with the program. Instructions on how to get them can be easily found on the Internet.
Well, then you will need to perform a few simple actions:
To start the work, download the USBTUnnel utility, and download Androidtool to your computer.
Now go directly to working with the phone. You need to get to the menu and enable USB outgrade.
We connect the phone to the PC via the standard USB connector.
On the computer launch Androidtool.
After the program is launched Click Search for devices - Search Android (Android) Devices - Show a list of devices. It is important to know: the program can ask if you have administrator rights to make such significant changes to the operation of devices. Immediately answer yes. Also, the application in some places is extremely unstable. Therefore, the program from time to time can knock out.
And finally, click Finish.
Also, various requests can also appear with which in most cases it is necessary to agree. It is necessary to know: is not crippled that the program will issue a systemic or other error. In this case, all of the above steps will have to do from the very beginning.
After you agreed with all the requests of the program, in front of you, a joyful inscription "Connect" will appear.
Then on your device a request appears about whether you have root rights. You just need to press the Yes button.
If all of the above actions were performed in the correct order, the Internet connection through the computer will start automatically.
There are situations where, it would seem, everything is done correctly, but the Internet still does not want to work with a wired connection through a computer. The most common mistakes:
The computer simply does not see either not synchronized with your phone.
The phone does not see the program you need.
All steps were performed correctly, but the Internet on the phone still did not appear.
Solving these problems
If you did not find the necessary program on Google Play and downloaded it from the Internet, then make sure that you downloaded the program to the ADB folder, as the program starts its work automatically. But if you accidentally threw it out in that folder, there is nothing terrible in it, simply possible system errors and the like.
If after you have done the whole instructions, but the Internet still does not want to work on the phone, most likely you did not include routing on it (before starting work it is necessary to make sure whether the service is included or not). In order to do this, you need to go to my computer-managing services and apps - Routing-remote access. After that, the problem should disappear.
Prices for mobile Internet in 3G and 4G networks almost descended from the land heights and soon, it is necessary to expect, compass the cost of traditional cable communications. And there, you look, and you will displace it at all, after all, to use the Internet, which is always with you (in a cell phone), it is much more convenient than to be tied to its stationary source.
Go from the stationary Internet on 3G / 4G - the case of a couple of minutes. It is enough to have a contract with a cellular operator (access to the global web today enters almost any tariff plan) and some amount on the balance sheet. Well, the mobile phone itself, which will be a connection point.
Let's talk how to connect the Internet to a computer using an android smartphone as a modem.
Phone as a modem via USB cable
Connect to the Internet via the phone connected to the computer via the USB cable is perhaps the easiest way. This method is convenient because it does not require settings and does not need protection measures from hacking and access to outsiders, like wireless communication. Connection is installed in seconds and works almost smoothly, of course, subject to a good cellular signal and high-quality USB cable.
Go to the "Settings" application (in older versions of Android - "parameters"), open the wireless networks section, go to the additional parameters of the wireless networks (in my example they are hidden outside the "still" button).
Turn on "Mobile data", that is, connect the phone to the 3G / 4G Internet network. Or do it in another way - by pressing the button in the curtain, etc. On different android smartphones, this and subsequent actions are performed slightly different, but the essence is about one.
Being in additional parameters of wireless networks, open the Modem Mode section. Move the USB modem slider to the "Included" position.
Configuration is complete, the connection is set. Now your computer is connected to a global network via USB cable and mobile operator network.
Bluetooth modem on the phone
If you want to connect to the network of the device equipped with the Bluetooth module (laptops, smartphones, tablets), you can use the phone as a Bluetooth modem. To establish a sustainable communication, client devices should be positioned at no further than 8-9 m from the phone, but is best - in close proximity. In addition, make sure that the Bluetooth adapter is activated on all devices.
Order connection to the Internet via Bluetooth modem on the phone:
Turn on the 3G / 4G Internet on the phone.
Go to the "Settings" application - "Wireless Networks". Slide the Bluetooth slider to the "Enabled" position.
Go to the "Bluetooth" section and select the device from the "Available Devices" list that you want to provide access to the World Wide Web. If there are several of them, set the connection in turn. When the windows appear with the conjugation permission request, refer to the code and click the "Connect" button on both connected devices.
Open the "Modem Mode" section in the Advanced Settings and turn on the Bluetooth modem.
Now your gadgets have a global network. By the way, at the same time you can continue to use the phone as a modem connected to a USB computer.
Creating a Wi-Fi Access Point on Android Phone
To connect the Internet to a laptop, a tablet, Smart TV and other devices that are in different parts of the apartment, the most convenient to use Wi-Fi. And the access point and the modem will again be our smartphone.
Procedure for setting the access point and internet connection:
Turn on the phone Wi-Fi and 3G / 4G-Internet module.
Go through additional wireless settings in the modem mode section. Touch the "Wi-Fi Access Point".
In the "Wi-Fi Access Point" section, move the slider shown in the screenshot to the "Enabled" position. Before connecting to it devices, you need to make several more settings.
Touch the "Save Access Point" row. In the window that opens, select the appropriate option. To save the battery energy, it is optimally turned off when it is inactive after 5 or 10 minutes. If the phone is connected to the power source constantly, then the access point can always be saved.
Next setting is a network name, encryption method and password. The name (by default usually repeats the name of the phone model) can be any. The best way to protect (encryption) - WPA2 PSK. If you are going to connect an old device to this access point, for example, a Windows XP laptop, choose WEP protection. Next, set the password that users will enter when connecting client devices, and save the setting.
To communicate with the devices equipped with the WPS button, you can use the same feature on the phone. First, press WPS on the client device, next - the "Connect" button shown below on the phone.
After that, your gadgets will open access to the World Wi-Fi Wi-Fi. By the way, if you wish, you can use all 3 types of connecting together, but with a very intense load on network modules, the phone will warm up (which is clearly not good) and, despite the feeding from the computer via USB, quickly spends the battery charge. Therefore, it is not worth loading it at the maximum. For such cases, it is better to use the traditional cable Internet connection.
The article is relevant for 2010, modern Androids can be done by one "check mark" in the settings
After buying HTC Hero, I had a question: how to get the Internet on a communicator through a computer? With my previous Toshiba G900 Communicator, under WindowsMobile 6, everything was simple: installed the "Mobile Device Center", and the Internet appeared on the communicator. "This feature is not needed," you say, because now there are many Wi-Fi access points through which you can connect with two clicks. But personally I have no Wi-Fi point (there is a laptop, but Android does not detect an AD-HOC network). Therefore, I was distressed by the lack of this function. All my attempts to find manuals on this topics - were not crowned with success. Therefore, I decided it myself.
For the work of the roll root user.
Installing the network between the communicator and computer
There are two ways:
Built-in USB TETHER (in devices with SENCE and maybe some other
USB TETHER implemented by third-party software.
In this article, I will consider the second way, since it is more versatile.
And so, we need a Wired Tether program, which can be downloaded by clicking on QR code, or by considering it from the phone:
After clicking on the screen in the Wired Tether program, a new network connection to the communicator appears in Windows, and the settings received by DHCP:
For example, I have a communicator network - Android USB, and connecting to the Internet for shared access - Internet. In the future, I will use these designations.
Turn off the Internet connection, in the connection properties, we make it available for Android USB:
We go to the Android USB settings and change its IP and a mask at 172.20.23.253 / 255.255.255.252, and the rest do empty:
The purpose of manual changes to the IP address is to remove the default gateway.
We try ping communicator (it is under ip - 172.20.23.254)
C: \ Users \ Mainnika> Ping 172.20.23.254
Exchange packages from 172.20.23.254 with 32 bytes of data:
Answer from 172.20.23.254: number byte = 32 Time <1ms TTL = 128
Configure the communicator
For convenience of working with scripts, take the GScript Lite program:
Create a new script in the GScript Lite program, with writing there:
iFconfig RMNet0 DowN.
iFconfig USB0 Up.
Route Add Default GW 172.20.23.253 Dev USB0
Setprop net.dns1 184.108.40.206.
220.127.116.11 - This is a DNS server from Google. I love it to use, so I use it here. You can use any DNS server that you want.
Setup is completed, you can test:
Turn on the Wired Tether program, turn on the connection
Turn on GScript Lite, we can perform the script we created
Well, to make sure I will go to
To disable, it is enough to restart the mobile connection.
All. Now you can widen in the market, download from there a mountain of useful and not only software.
UPD: For those who cannot cope with the route setting on Windows, I can advise WinRoute from Kerio. It also works through it, and its entire setting is to specify the network connected to the Internet.
UPD2: I rewrote an article, it became universally and without problems. Thanks "Corwin" for the indication of the error in the script leading to the "Invalid Argument"
The first thing comes to mind when the OTG cable appears, - connect the USB flash drive to the smartphone. In most cases, this will not be much difficult. Keyword - most. It all depends on the software that is installed on your device. Most of the modern shells of manufacturers other than doubtful beauty interfaces bring in Android devices and support OTG. What, for example, the Nexus devices cannot boast - to connect an ordinary USB flash drive to them, you will have or mess with third-party programs, or install custom firmware. I stopped at the last option.
The second follows from the first - if the gadget recognized a USB flash drive, then why not try to connect an SD card to it by means of a cartrider? The result was not forced to wait long - the smartphone with ease saw the memory card, you can work with it in any file manager.
The last variation of devices for mobile storage data (discrete blanks to omit) are external hard drives. And if about the successful connection of the first two points of our list of special doubts did not arise, then I began to doubt the hard disk. My doubts were justified - the first kingston "got drunk", but did not recognize the smartphone. In search of solving a problem, I stopped on the utility called USB OTG Helper - it finds a hard disk connected to the device and mount it, after which it is displayed in the file manager. Everything would be wonderful if there were absolutely all external hard drives in this way. For example, Seagate volume of 4 terabyte was able to only light their LED, but the diet to unwind their "pancakes", he did not have enough.
From this point, we begin the balletness with all sorts of peripherals. Again, the first thing that comes to mind is to connect the mouse type manipulator. Android doesn't cause any questions - after connecting the display immediately appears the cursor, which impeccables the movement of the mouse. In this case, as on a big brother, all programs will start double-clicking.
From the first day of the appearance of the tablets, the holivar does not stop on the point that all sorts of tablets are created only to consume content, but not to create it. For us, bloggers, the possibilities of modern tablets are quite enough to create "field content": Write a note on the road or with the temporary non-laptop laptop. However, no one will argue that the text is much more convenient to dial with the help of a physical, not a virtual keyboard. Fortunately, Android allows you to connect full-fledged keyboards without any problems with the same OTG cable. Gamepad
Today on mobile devices, more and more serious games appear, to control which the gamepad wants to be used. Of course, you can use specialized solutions like Moga Ace Power or SteelSeries Free Mobile Wireless Controller, which are connected to the smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. But there is another, much less costly way - to find your old gamepad for PC and connect it to the device.
Why not turn the same Android tablet in the similarity of the workstation with the keyboard, mouse and, let's say, speakers. You can accomplish like that. We take a USB hub, connect it to our gadget, and the entire peripherals to a USB hub. I confess, in my case, the mouse and keyboard worked with varying success. Whether a USB-hub is too wonderful (except for several USB ports, a cup of cups is built into it, but about it below), or on the contrary - something is wrong with him, but I know people who managed to turn this focus. Have you tried to do it? Share your experience in the comments.
Why not connect a USB speaker to your smartphone. In my case, the Dell column was fed from USB, and the sound was transferred using mini jack. The power of the mobile USB is enough for them, the music was reproduced without problems.
The next hand I got a headset Siberia V2 Frost Blue. The minijk has no. And the power, and the transmission of the sound provides a USB output that I have hurried to connect to the OTG cable. To my surprise, and the speakers, the microphone, and the volume of volume control, and even the headset backlight immediately earned it properly.
Wandering over the office in search of everything that has a USB outlet, I came across a banal webcam. Unfortunately, after connecting it to the OTG cable, nothing happened, Android-smartphone did not see it. In search of solving this problem, I stopped at the USB Camera program. Using this application, the webcam connected to the Android device will be able to take pictures and record videos, but all this will be possible only inside USB Camera.
The next device that I connected to my smartphone has become a printer. Yes, today almost all printers are equipped with a Wi-Fi module, but at the same time, many at home are not the most recent models that are derived similar function, so you have to connect them along the wire. Fortunately, the latest Android versions are pretty friendly with printers - with the help of simple fraud you will manage to connect a printer to your device both through a cable and a Wi-Fi network. To print via USB, I used the Printhand application, which my printer immediately saw and offered to print the document I need.
Popular among Androids is the connection mainly to Android tablets USB modems. Indeed, why overpay for 3G / LTE-modification of the tablet half of its cost, if you can connect a kopeck "whistle". Someone will call this logic primitive, but many people come in this way. But what is the hope - to connect a USB modem to an Android device can be only bypass, that is, using the right superuser and the corresponding software. In most cases, the universal PPP Widget 2 will help you if you "start a" USB modem using PPP Widget 2 You didn't work, then in this case, look for happiness on profile forums - there will definitely help you.
Modern cameras are connected to the Android device without problems. In this case, the smartphone will recognize them as a storage device for photos and videos. Files can be viewed, copy or deleted - in general, all that we used to do when connecting the camera to a computer. In my opinion, the excellent use of a smartphone for photographers, since all sorts of branded utilities for wireless connecting cameras to smartphones have a property to bring in the most responsible moment.
